Non profit sites can get listed in Yahoo directory for free. But for commercial one, either your site listed in DMOZ, or you can pay $299 / year for yahoo directory.

yahoo is popular so u can use its directory because peoples have much attention to yahoo but u have to pay $299 to yahoo.

2 ways:
1) Free:
Navigate to the category you want to put the site in and then click on 'Suggest a site' in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
2) Paid:
Go here: https://ecom.yahoo.com/dir/submit/intro/ and click on the 'Get Started' link

Well yahoo directory gives very good back link and traffic too so if you have some extra money then its good place your site in yahoo directory , because they are paid and they also just approve quality sites , not just every site that comes on them way

As far as i can tell sites listed on yahoo directory seem to get a better page rank and more visable links through google. we have a normal free submit and have just paid for the directory submission £180.00
i will let you know if the site listed on yahoo generates extra traffic its

and the other site not listed is http://mammothworkwear.com
i will gather the info and let you all know |

It can help alittle, though I think Google is STILL Widely Spread.
ALSO, look for an Email Submission.
ie. HTMail.com. People get Paid to Read your emails.
I've gotten more hits and more responses than Adwords on Google.
Just an Idea

Money isnt the issue, exposure is! I know what you mean though you could get featured listings in high PR directories? Ive already done that its the relevance of a website that contributes to the overall page rank and how google views your site.
Most forums are PR3 to 8 because they are informative, always getting new content thats ever changing. Same for blogs that are updated regular, not many directories have a greater page rank than 5 yes sure you have google's dmoz, or yahoo etc but not many after that get above 5
If im wrong send me the links to the pr6 directories, If my sites not already there I will list it.
The yahoo listing made a difference to the site we got higher page position on yahoo in some cases page 1 for certain keywords and many on page 2. we diddnt even exist on google until a month later. |

I dont think that its worth it. There are plenty of other directories and sites that you can spend the money on that will get you a better rank and more backlinks.
