1. Article submission
2. Press release submission
3. Forum submission
4. Blog submission
5. Blog comments
6. Social bookmarking
7. Social networking
8. Directory submission
9. Link exchange
Then u can increase traffic to your website by giving track back links.

Posting comments in Yahoo Answers and similar Q&A sites can also boost your traffic. That should be included in the list.

I think one of the easiest way to get traffic is to rank top in some websites. You can join some social networking sites for this purpose but this does not ensure a steady flow of traffic unless you are treating this thing with due care and consideration.

In order to increase web traffic you will have to keep your page fresh and continually watch your page rankings, they are refreshed every 3 months by Google so if you have a slip, it can cost you 3 months of down time trying to get it back up.

yeah. Especially if a website aims getting high traffic, it should use Google Adwords Content Network.
