I contacted an SEO company today about getting my site optimised for google. The guy took my url and said he'd call back. Sure enough he did...promptly telling me to go to yahoo.co.uk and search for xmas gift ideas. Number one rank was this.. http://www.concept-websites.co.uk/xmas-gift-ideas.html a hijacked copy of my homepage which is actually www.strelitzia.co.uk - He said that it was to show that they could get me number one rankings!! This seems to be a bit of a dubious way to get No1 rankings, so i declined there services at £475 +VAT up front, and £125 per month.
The page they put on is still there 4 hours later and i'm worried it may get me penalised by google.
What do you think??

The saga continues.
There are no short cuts in this. You must work hard and put something on the table for people to take you & your site seriously.
Just cause you can spend money will not make you #1.
