I have done a live PR check on my website but am a bit confused by the differing results by each search engine. Google shows the site as having no Backlinks whilst Yahoo has 56, MSN 33 and AltaVista 88.
If possible could someone explain why different sites show different results and if possible how I could get Google to recognise the sites backlinks?

coz they have different content that crawlers indexed...

It takes a while for google to update the backlinks stats while yahoo and msn are fast comparatively

easycash is right. google is always slower in updating backlinks and pr but slow is alway better :d

google dont show all backlinks and take more time to update backlinks, so ur websites has no backlinks in google.

| Google update page rank and backlinks at the same time . It usually update every three months. |

Each search engine has diferent crowler so indexed different pages thats why they show deifferent backlinks. google doesnt show all backlinks.

The URLS they show are not all the URLs in their records; just a sample of backlinks.

Because search engines has their own basis on checking every details regarding a web site/web page.
In Google, it takes several weeks or months before the backlinks appear. It's also depends on the quality of the links.
