I understand their thinking and rebranding to help compete with google, but I think that it is going to take more than a domain name to retain a lot of users.

They need to rework their algorithm drastically. I rarely get good results with Microsoft search / Live.

To me this new domain is like putting lipstick on a pig! Yes it will draw in some new users, but not as many as they could if they redid their search engine code.

What does everyone else think of them rebranding Live to Bing?

Rebranding wouldn't be enough to attract more visitors. Microsoft Live should make new features better than what Google currently offers.

This new SE from Microsoft will bring some changes on search technology. They even acquired Powerset in order to have the team behind it work for the search technology of Bing, they said that they were impress with the people there. Their experience, their passion for search, and a shared vision would help Bing to take Search to the next level. Well this new SE gained positive feedback after it was launched. Let's see and wait if they will going to dethroned Big G. =)

I like the flyouts next to the search results. I have to admit it's not bad. I would like to see somebody give Google a bit of a run.

This totally caught me off guard. I usually use Google but accidently did a search from my MSN homepage. I had to backup a few times because I thought I had a redirect virus!

I actually liked it quite a bit. Hopefully they'll continue to add more competitive features.

Rebranding Live to Bing is a good idea. But they should be able to improve the features so that they can attract many users. I tried Bing yesterday so far it works pretty well and the site's layout is nice. Still, I'm looking forward to its progress. I'll wait and see.

Hello friends

I think jhdogtraining is right, we should give time to Bing.

Google was also not the Big Brand Name when it was launched and has covered a long journey to be where now it is.

So lets wait for Bing to spread first.

Cheers!

I do like the idea that you have a decent alternative to google, however its still really just Live search rebranded with a couple of added features. Will need work if they want to compete with Googles search results. Lets face it google are becoming too dominant (OK so they are already!) and if there is no real competition then the way they work their search results becomes something they can dictate with no challenge...

First of all Bing is really a cool name and we all knows that goolge is great search engine but with the popularity of Bing and nice search results and good traffic from Bing everyone interested to look for bing and i think it will be very tough competition between google and bing.
