Your site must be indexed first before building links for it. You can be penalized for accumulating too much BLs (spamming) in a very short period of time.

What do you mean "backlinks to the search engine"? If you're asking if it's possible for a search engine to see your backlinks before it indexes your site then yes it is possible. For example, I can make a link to a site that doesn't exist and the search engines will see that link but they will not index the site because it doesn't exist. But if your site does exist, the search engine will follow the link and see your site and index it. So the first time it finds a backlink is when it indexes your site. Hope that helps.

Yes, it is possible but you should not go for this practice. Your site may be banned, if there are so many backlinks before getting indexed.

This can happen. I have website which has not been indexed by Bing but still it shows its backlinks. It is something weird but you might have to face this kind of situation.

Yes, there are some scenario wherein your site has not yet indexed but already generated backlinks. As you submit your site, it will be indexed in a span of time. As well as submitting your site to directories wherein you have to wait for approval to get listed.
