You're right, Google is #1 search engine for the visitors. But I was asking from the webmaster's point of view, what are those special things I should use, so I can say I'm focusing on Google in my web development and optimization? Can anyone explain it to me?

Simple.
Google powered most searches in the internet. When you search on other sites, the results are coming from google.

PPC wise, you cant even compare. Adwords is a hundered times better, expecially because of the adwords editor where other programs really lacks.
As a serach engine you still can't compare imo, google is better, gets way more traffic and doing seo there is something worthwile.

On my view having both in marketing PPC and SEO will give you the best result...having the the two working together you'll be able to have traffic and conversion on PPC while on SEO you are insuring to rank well on SE for further or long term result...
