Very much so...especially if you are have a shiny new website. Indexing can take a very long time from major engines, smaller ones are often much faster (under 1 month typically). This has 2 benefits. It does attract a small amount of traffic that you would not have received had you not submitted...and it also creates and opportunity for backlinks.
Traffic and backlinks will result in people finding your site quicker...and will also add another channel for the bigger search engines to find you.
Low hanging fruit...as some may say.
