forum links are a nice reward for active forum members & should not be abused. Leaving them dofollow can also encourage the community to grow. I have noticed a lot of blogs/forums become stagnant after adding the NOFOLLOW ATTRIBUTE

Forum links can also help get a website indexed in the Search engines faster.

Just do not spam as it is easy to spot & remove.

Forums are mostly do-follow ones. Usually , they are highly moderated, so no need to switch on no-follow.

Blogs are usually maintained by a single person, and it's sometime hard to get along with the high level of spam.

If you need a list of 200 do-follow forums, check it here :

Enjoy.
P.S. Do not spam those forums, this only will get you banned.

Posting in forums is a good way to gain quality one-way links. It can also boost your traffic.

Only if the forum allows dofollow links.. otherwise there will be no linkjuice conveyed. Even if it is dofollow, then, unless your site and link are related to the forum topic, it won't do much good. If we are threading about SEO and I leave my garden hose blog backlink .. fat chance it will garner any link strength whatsoever. I may con a few of you in to go checking out my cool glow-in-the-dark water hoses, but why would I want to do that?
