Any tools for checking "nofollow" tag

I quess, it would be correct if I say that placing link on the site with "nofollow" tag is almost wasting a time (except well ranking sites which might give you some traffic). Another words "nofollow" tag makes your link invisible to the search engines. Please, correct me if I'm wrong.

Here is a question. Are there any tools around, that might check any website on a presence of "nofollow" tag within a source code, so we should not open every source code directly to see if that tag is there?

I would appreciate someone sharing experience in that matter.
