Microsoft Launches Bing App for Android Phones
Microsoft is entering Google's mobile universe as it has launched the Android version of its Bing search engine for Google's Android phones. The Bing app is now available for all Verizon Android phone users as a free download at the Android Marketplace. A Microsoft spokesperson told ZDNet.com that the company chose to roll out Bing on Verizon Android phones because of "the deep partnership with VZW on Bing search" and that the company was "working to make Bing available on the other mobile operators and their Android devices."
According to a post on the official Bing blog, the Bing app for Android performs standard search functions as well as including the advanced Bing visual home page and voice-activated searches.
Bing mobile team member Andy Chu wrote that you can "just say 'movies,' for a quick result of movie listings, theaters, and show times nearby, or say the flight information you are looking for, we will show you the departure, arrival, and other relevant information such as traffic, weather, news, and hotels details."
