2- "Real Names Internet Keywords" and How it Works
Real Names is a system that provides matches for keywords typed in
search engines or browsers. By using Real Names you will be able to
guarantee a listing on the first page of those search engines that offer
this service. The following are some of the search engines or browsers
that use Real Names currently: AltaVista, GO Network, Google, LookSmart,
MetaCrawler, MSN Search, Internet Explorer and many others.
Real Names results are usually displayed in the search engine results
before regular listings. For example, if you type "Amazon" in AltaVista,
you will see the following listing before the regular AltaVista results:
Amazon - Click on this Internet Keyword to go directly to the Amazon Web
site.
Another example is if you type "amazon" or "amazon books" in the
Internet Explorer browser. If you do this, you will automatically be
redirected to www.amazon.com website.
Real Names charges $100 for registration of any keyword. However, you
are only allowed to buy keywords that are business/trademark names that
you own and not generic terms. For example, Amazon.com has purchased
"amazon" and "amazon books", but they are not allowed to buy "books".
However, if you type generic terms, you will still see some results.
These results come from Real Names' own search engine. The results are
gathered from 3 sources and sorted by the following order: paid
listings, editorial additions and Real Names' spidered sites.
So buying just one keyword will help you get a better position for
generic terms. For example, type "books" in AltaVista and you will see
the following results:
books - Click here for a list of Internet Keywords related to books.
When you click on "books", it will take you to a page with listings from
various online or traditional bookstores such as Borders and Amazon.com.
Real Names is trying hard to expand its reach and is making new deals
all the time. They are now a big Microsoft partner.
Although $100 may seem a lot of money to pay, it will be well worth it
in the long run. Many people pay $1-$3 per click to their sites via
banner ads. Real Names can easily bring hundreds of hits to your site in
just a month, for a lot less. We will specially recommend it, if a lot
of your clients are typing in your business name, but cannot find you.
We recommend buying a few keywords on Real Names and try it out.
However, if there is a generic term that you would like to buy, make
sure to contact Real Names support first, because if the term is not
accepted after a review by one of their editors, you will lose the $100
that you paid.

3- Search Engine News
Yahoo/Google/Inktomi:
Yahoo announced that it is dropping Inktomi as its secondary listing
provider in favor of Google. The secondary listings are shown after the
regular directory listings at Yahoo, whenever there are not enough
matches in its own directory. Since Yahoo is the biggest
directory/search engine, it is vital to have a listing at Google.com.
We are planning on adding Google to our free submission services, but

Google's primary ranking algorithm is Link Popularity. For more on Link

Google:
Google also announced that it now has the biggest search engine database
with over 1 billion URL's. You can see the details at:

GoTo.com:
GoTo Signs a Deal with CNET's Search.com - GoTo.com has signed an
agreement with CNET Networks, Inc.'s Search.com to be a premier search
partner. GoTo.com results will appear before all other listings. See

Snap:
Snap has recently changed the way it ranks pages. It now uses
Clickthrough Popularity as a measure of ranking pages, whereas before
all the sites in its categories were alphabetically listed. Snap will
keep track of which sites the visitors click on, and the sites will be
ranked based on the number of clickthroughs they get.
WebTop.com:
WebTop is a new search engine, which has replaced the European based
EuroFerret. Since we used to submit to EuroFerret via our free
submission, we quickly caught this change over about a month ago. When
our script started showing failed submissions to EuroFerret, we quickly
changed the script to submit to WebTop instead. If you have done
submissions via our site in the last month or so, you have probably
received a confirmation email from WebTop. It seems that they may have
a small bug in their confirmation email. We have noticed that once in a
while, it does not recognize the website URL until you submit a second
time directly from their page.
A nice feature WebTop offers is that you can highlight anything you are
reading and drag and drop it in their search box. The search results
